Poker Hand Ranking

The individual hands within the 52 card pack rank from the highest - Ace, king Queen, Jack 10.2. The suits are of equal ranking.

There are 5 cards in a poker hand. Any hand in a higher category beats any hand in a low category. The individual cards are the deciding factor between the same hands.

Poker ranks are always based on 5 cards only. So, should a player have more than 5 cards, only the selected 5 form part of the ranking.

There is no ranking of suits i.e.J = J Therefore, where two hands are the same (but are of differing suits) the hands are counted as equal.
